Bahrain Mirror: Hezbollah condemned what it described as "the political verdict issued by the Bahraini authorities against the secretary-general of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, Sheikh Ali Salman, sentencing him to four years in prison over fabricated charges and allegations that are far from the truth."
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, Hezbollah considered that this verdict "reveals the division between the ruling authority in Bahrain and its people as it is distancing itself from reality and the hopes and aspirations of its people, while it is determined to maintain its domination and monopoly over power, by repression, arbitrary sentences and intimidation."
"This verdict has nothing to do with the judiciary, law and justice; it is but a retaliatory sentence which expresses the authorities' frustration at the Bahraini people's commitment to peaceful conscious and organized movement in order to achieve their legitimate demands of a true national partnership and a just rule which represents the public and their desire to lead a free and decent life," Hezbollah further stated.
Hezbollah concluded its statement by calling on "Arab and international legal and civil organizations to make all possible efforts to pressure the repressive regime in Bahrain, act towards the immediate release of Sheikh Ali Salman, and support the peaceful popular movement which is a fine example of [the people's] adherence to their legitimate demands."
