Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's security authorities released Al-Wefaq's municipal council member Sadiq Rabie after he was arrested at the Bahrain International Airport. Reports revealed that the authorities arrested Rabie for interrogation after he had finished the required papers for his flight scheduled on Thursday, and then released him allowing him to continue his planned trip to Iran. Sources from his family denied the validity of news saying that he was arrested and taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) building.
Rabie has been targeted by security forces before as he sustained serious injuries from shotgun pellets in different parts of his body during a crackdown on a peaceful protest in Sitra in 2012.
Splinters from the shotgun pellets were spread in his back, neck reaching his ear yet he was deprived of medical treatment. Despite being elected, Rabie was dismissed from the municipal council in 2011 because of his support of peaceful protests demanding democracy.
