Bahrain Mirror: The head of the North Area Municipality, Mohammad Bou Hammoud, said that the "there is still no progress regarding the issue of temporary employees in the municipality's secretariat and no final solution has been made, despite the official directions given by the Prime Minister and other officials a long time ago."
Bou Hammoud added that "the Ministry of Works, Municipality Affairs & Urban Planning represented by the executive body of the North Area has only, until now, as it has been over more than 5 years, renewed the contracts of the temporary employees in the council for 6 additional months, i.e. until the end of 2015, hoping once again that the ministry would continue along with the civil service bureau and other relevant parties finish the measures to have the employees fixed in their jobs within this period."
"The number of temporary employees in the secretariat is 16, most of them have been in service since more than 7 years and they have become familiar with their jobs and the task assigned to them. They represent half of the employees at the secretariat and the council cannot manage without them, especially since there is a lack of employees and demands to increase the number of employees due to the many duties and tasks assigned to the council," the head of the North Area Municipality further stated.
He went on to say that "It is not normal to let this matter be a pending issue in the council throughout four years, especially that it was proposed to be resolved since the previous municipal round and many promises were made to end it. We are now relying on pushing more than one party to follow up this issue, so that we would have several parties to depend on."
