Al-Wefaq: “Independence Seminar” Cancelled due to Former Minister’s Urgent Personal Reasons

Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Bahrain's main opposition group Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society announced postponing a seminar about "the political development of the post and pre-independence period" scheduled to take place on Sunday night (August 16, 2015) due to urgent personal reasons that prevented the former minister Hussein Al-Baharna from attending.
Conflicting reports said that the royal court in Bahrain has called on the former Minister of State for Legal Affairs, Husain Al-Baharna, to cancel the seminar.
The ruling family considers that talking about Bahrain's independence affects its legitimacy, for it came as a result of efforts led by a national movement that opposed the British presence in the country and the monopoly of the Al-Khalifa family over power.
