Bahrain Mirror: The family of child Abbas Mohammad Ali Hassan said that they were surprised when Abbas's father received a phone call on Tuesday (August 25, 2015) from one of the Health Ministry's employees, informing them of the decision to transfer their son to receive treatment in Britain, a day after his demise.
The phone call which the family received ended with the employee apologizing from the family, yet it "opened the wounds of the family and increased their emotional pain after Abbas died due to a lack of good treatment, which he received in the Indian hospital before about 4 months."
During the phone call, the employee congratulated the father after the decision that the family had fought hard for was issued.
The father responded, "Why are you congratulating me? My son died."
The Al-Wasat newspaper said it received a phone call. two hours before, from the complaints departments in the Ministry of Health to follow up the details of the complaint of the family who hold the ministry and Indian Hospital accountable for their son's death. The newspaper considered this child to be the 9th victim of the Indian hospital's lack of treatment.
Commenting on the Health Ministry's call, the family said "if the ministry does not know about our son's death, then this is a disaster. And if it knows, the disaster is even greater."
"The news published in the press yesterday was widely spread. Yesterday we obtained the death certificate. Is it possible that this employee or the competent party were not aware of that?,"the family wondered.
Abbas's family stressed on the need to take a strict official stance to look into the facts of the incident and investigate the charges brought against the Indian hospital by more than 10 Bahraini families that ended in the death of 9 Bahraini children starting from July 2014, as these families gave different narratives and testimonies that focused on the hospital's poor hygiene and lack of capacities, care and follow ups.
