Over 210,000 Indian Workers in Bahrain’s Private Sector

Bahrain Mirror: Official statistics revealed that the number of Indian workers in Bahrain's private sector reached 210,739, including 204,341 males and 6,398 females, which constitutes 39% of the total workforce in the private sector. Thus, Indian workers occupy the highest rate among foreign workers in Bahrain, noting the there are workers from 108 countries.
According to statistics by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), the total number of workers in the private sector is 542,767, including 483,532 males and 59,185 females.
Numbers have shown that Bangladeshi workers come directly after the Indian workers in second place in terms of the number of private sector foreign workers in the kingdom. Latest statistics have unveiled that there are 118,875 Bangladeshis who constitute 22% of the foreign private sector workforce in the country. Meanwhile, Bahraini nationals come in third place of the total number of workers in Bahrain's private sector, as they amount to 87,683, including 60,188 males and 27,495 females. Thus, Bahrainis only constitute 16% of workers in the private sector.
As for the Pakistani workers, they come in fourth place, amounting to 45,120. The Filipino workers come in fifth place with 27,792 workers, including 13,212 males and 14,580 females. However, the Nepali workers occupy the sixth place with 15,439 workers.
Statistics have shown that there are 11,226 workers in the private sector of unidentified nationalities. Whereas, there are 2,249 British workers and 906 Americans in Bahrain.
Yemen topped the Arab list in terms of exporting workers to Bahrain, as there are 2,776 Yemenis working in Bahrain. Jordan followed Yemen with 2,009 workers, then came Syria with 1,471, Lebanon with 1,042 and Iraq with 436 workers.
As for the GCC states, numbers have shown that there are 334 Saudis currently working in Bahrain, including 219 males and 115 females. Besides, there are 207 Omani workers, 11 Emiratis and 8 Qataris.
