Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's first high criminal court presided over by judge Mohammad bin Ali Al Khalifa with membership of judges Dia' Huraidi and Issam-Eldeen Mohammad Khalil and Naji Abdullah as secretariat commenced the trial of the pro-government "Bawabat Al-Bahrain" website owner and decided to adjourn the case until October 8 for further consideration and pleading.
The authorities say that a report was filed to the Al-Riffa police station by one of the election candidates last October, stating that the defendant, owner of "Bawabat Al-Bahrain" said on the website's Twitter account that the court of summary procedures ordered to withdraw from one of the election candidates the title of a well-known tribe, because he was exploiting the title to make people vote for him.
The prosecution accused the suspect that he on November 20, 2014, brought a charge against the defendant that puts him in a place of contempt and affects his family's reputation. The prosecution added that the suspect also published information that insults the defendant.
It is noteworthy Bawabat Al-Bahrain website announced its closure in June "for many reasons, mainly, not being able to bear the legal accountability as there are several lawsuits filed against the website."
