Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's second circuit supreme civil court of appeals will issue verdict on freezing the activities of the country's main opposition group, Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, for 3 months on September 20, 2015.
Lawyer Kassim Al-Fardan attended on the behalf of lawyer Hassan Radhi and presented a copy of Al-Wefaq's statute, while the state's representative presented a memorandum.
Minister of Justice and Islamic Affairs, Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, brought a lawsuit in the administrative court on July 20, 2014, to ban Al-Wefaq activities for 3 months, so that the the society could during this period do away with all the violations and hold its general conference in a lawful manner to elect its leaders, pursuant to the political societies law No. 26/2005 and binding it to pay charges and expenditures.
The supreme administrative court had frozen the activities of Al-Wefaq for 3 months and bound it to eliminate the causes of violations.
The court committee chaired by judge Joumaa Al-Mousa and membership of judges Mohammad Tawfik and Ashraf Abdulhadi and Abdullah Ebrahim as secretariat, justified its verdict to freeze Al-Wefaq's activity by stating that it was proved by the case documents that Al-Wefaq held its general conference to elect its leaders in (2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014) in violation of the society's main statute and provisions of law No. 26/2005.
