Bahrain Mirror: The president of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, the prominent Bahraini human rights activist, Nabeel Rajab, criticized the National Institution of Human Rights, which is appointed by a royal decree, considering that "it didn't prove its worth in changing and improving the human rights situation in Bahrain."
In a number of tweets, Rajab said that the member of the National Institution for Human Rights were busy attending "seminars and events abroad and disregarded their priorities, based on the duties they were assigned to fulfill, which is to improve the human rights situation in Bahrain. Even their annual report which we praised last year disappeared this year as there were many violations that weren't addressed, as if they are not concerned."
Rajab further stated that what made him talk about the National Institution for Human Rights is "the discussion and assessment held (Friday, September 11, 2015) with some international organizations which expressed its frustration at the absence of this institution's influence."
Local and international human rights organizations view the National Institution for Human Rights as one of the formal institutions created by the authorities in Bahrain to imply that it is improving in the field of human rights reforms.
