Bahrain Mirror: President of the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs Rationalising Expenditure and Deputy Prime Minister, Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, said that he has issued directives to the Central Informatics Organisation (CIO) to open online registration for citizens wishing to benefit from the cash compensation as of September 15 following the decision to lift subsidies on meat products. He also instructed the Finance Ministry to start crediting the sums to the beneficiaries' bank accounts as of October 2015.
"The move is in implementation of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa's order, and within the framework of the agreement reached between the government and the parliamentary Committee on Subsidy Review and Revenues Development," he added.
CIO President, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Amer, invited Bahraini family breadwinners wishing to receive cash compensation to register online round the clock, via this website (https://subsidies.gov.bh) or smartphone applications as of September 15, 2015.
This means that the subsidies on meat will be lifted in the beginning of next October, after a two-month postponement, which will lead to an increase in the prices of meat products in the restaurant industry and other sectors.
