Bahrain Mirror: The Office of Political Society Affairs at the Bahraini Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments said that, pursuant to the verdict issued on September 20, 2015, it supports the sentence of suspending the activity of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society for three months during which it would correct the violations that took place in its general conferences.

The court of appeals has supported the verdict of suspending Al-Wefaq's society for 3 months and obliging it to do away with the violations.

On his personal Twitter account, lawyer Abdullah Al-Shamlawi said that the court of appeals refused Al-Wefaq's appeal and supported the sentence issued against it.

On October 28, 2014, the supreme administrative court froze the activities of Al-Wefaq for 3 months and bound it to eliminate the causes of violations.

After Al-Wefaq held its general conference again, its secretary-General, Sheikh Ali Salman, was arrested and sentenced to 4 years in prison.

Al-Shamlawi added that "in the light of the aforementioned appeal and executing it and based on what was affirmed by the ministry that the actual number of Al-Wefaq members according to the documents submitted by the society is 3044 only, and as the society did not object on this issue before the court, thus, the office of political societies announces that the society is to resume its activities and its last general conference is to be adopted."

The office stressed that the political societies have to respect the provisions of Constitution and law, without violating the ministry's legal right to take all the measures regarding any other violations.
