Bahrain Mirror: Pakistan's Ambassador to Bahrain, Saeed Ahmed Khan, said that the Pakistani community in Bahrain reached 100,000 persons, explaining that the past 5 years witnessed the highest rate with 25 thousand Pakistanis, most of whom working in the police force. The ambassador also did not fail to mention the "martyrdom" of "two youths recently" in clashes with protestors.
In an interview with Al-Bilad newspaper, owned by the Prime Minister's son, the ambassador complained about what he called "insulting the Pakistanis" coming to Bahrain by stopping them for long hours at Bahrain's International Airport or transferring some of them to the Ministry of Interior to be searched even more. He also expressed his concern regarding this issue, saying that he met with officials in the Ministry of Interior and renewed his demand to fix the "the scanning devices" in the airport.
As for the free-visa Pakistanis, the embassy said that this does not make the Pakistani an illegal resident in Bahrain, explaining that the one "who is committing a violation in these cases is the Bahraini business owner and not the foreigner. We refuse any measures that will be taken to hold them accountable."
The ambassador further stated that there are 12 Pakistanis working in Manama banks, which is considered makes sense since there is a large Pakistani community in the island kingdom, with the majority of Pakistanis working in security bodies.
