Bahraini PM in Saudi Arabia Seeking More Financial Support

2015-10-28 - 7:52 p

Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): The Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud discussed with the Bahraini Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa (Sunday, October 25, 2015) the developments on the international level, according to an official statement.

King Salman and Premier Khalifa affirmed that the specific nature of the Bahraini-Saudi relations has contributed to enhancing complementarity and boosting cooperation between them.

The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) stated that the Saudi monarch reiterated his country's firm stance in support of the Kingdom of Bahrain in all fields.

Saudi forces had participated in the crackdown on the nationwide popular uprising in Bahrain (March 2011) which sought to put an end to the ruling Al Khalifa family's monopoly over power.

Bahrain has been experiencing financial difficulties amid a drop in oil prices. It has made a record increase of the debt ceiling to cover up the budget deficit as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned Bahrain that the public debt would reach in the next two years 61% of the GDP.

The Kingdom of Bahrain is seeking more support from Saudi Arabia, which it has joined in its war on Yemen.

The Bahraini Premier told the Saudi King that his country's participation in the Saudi-led Arab Coalition in its war on Yemen was to "confirm the unity of Arab countries and reflect its commitment to the common destiny of Arab countries and peoples."
