Bahraini Labour Minister: Over 466,000 Foreigners Work in Private Sector vis-a-vis 89,000 Bahrainis

Bahrain Mirror: Bahraini Minister of Labour and Social Development, Jameel Humaidan, said that the number of foreigners working in the private sector has reached 466,524 during 2015, i.e. by an estimated annual increase of 5%. Meanwhile, the number Bahraini nationals working in the private sector is only 89,592, i.e. by an estimated annual increase of 3%.
In a response to a parliamentary question, he explained: "A rise in the inflow rates of foreign workers is seen in the second quarter of 2015 as it reached 5% in comparison with the first quarter. A decrease in the annual inflow rates of foreign workers in 2015 is also seen in comparison with the past years."
"There was also an increase in the growth rate of Bahraini workers during the second quarter of 2015 as it reached 3% compared to the first quarter, with a decrease in the annual growth rates of Bahraini workers during 2015 in comparison with the past years."
