Bahrain Mirror: The Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Al-Muallem said on Saturday (February 6, 2016) that his country "will resist any ground incursion into its territory and send the aggressors home ‘in coffins,'" in comments clearly aimed at Sunni Arab countries that have announced they were ready to join such an operation, including Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
During a press conference, Al-Muallem said: "Any ground intervention into Syrian territory without the agreement of the Syrian government is an act of aggression ...and we stress that those (who do so) will return to their countries in coffins."
In the past few days, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain said that they are prepared to take part in any group operations in Syria should the US-led international coalition against the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) decide to launch such operations.
In reference to the military operations led by Saudi Arabia against Yemen, he said that he "doesn't think that those talking about a ground incursion will follow through."
"However, nothing is out of the question...There's something being cooked and led by the US. The Saudi leadership's madness makes everything possible."
