Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): The Qatari tweeter Abdulaziz Al-Jaber announced his arrival to Doha after he disappeared in Bahrain for two days. Social media accounts stated that Al-Jaber was arrested by the security authorities in Bahrain over charges of espionage charges.

No official statements from Manama or Doha were issued regarding the incident. Al-Jaber is one of the prominent Qatari tweeters who attacked UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, specifically during the diplomatic conflict in which the three states withdrew their ambassadors from Doha.

The official Twitter account of the "Al-Khaleej Newspaper" that has close ties with the UAE, announced on February 15, 2016 that the Qatari national Abdulaziz Al-Jaber was apprehended by Bahrain's Ministry of Interior. The account added that Al-Jaber confessed that "he received sums of money from Qatari security parties to establish a group of spies inside Bahrain." He also affirmed that he recruited a number of Bahraini tweeters to attack the Gulf rulers and incite the people against them. Al-Jaber also confessed that "the Qatari authorities are aware of all his movements in coordination of the Qatari Embassy."

"The Gulf Voice" (Sawt Al-Khaleej) network, managed by the pro-government Bahraini journalist Mohammad Al-Shorouki said that Al-Jaber was arrested on February 10, 2016 over spying charges. A new hashtag #Qatar_Spies_on Bahrain was also launched.

In tweets he sent on Tuesday (February 16, 2016), Al-Jaber thanked the Prince of Qatar for "the efforts he exerted" to make him return to Qatar. Al-Jaber also extended his thanks to the Qatari Prime Minister for "his efforts and personal following" of his case," denying what was circulated by Gulf media regarding his arrest.

Al-Jaber also thanked Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa for "his keenness on maintaining the brotherly relations between the two countries" and also showed his gratitude to the Bahraini Prime Minister "for the tolerance and forgiveness he showed regarding my case."
