Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Days after the English Football Association criticized Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa's candidacy, the German Football Association announced that it will not vote for Salman over involvement in violating human rights of athletes in 2011.
The German DW reported the German FA saying that: "On the grounds of suspected human rights abuses, we will not vote for Salman." Meanwhile, the acting DFB in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper said: "Given the human rights issues and the persistent doubts, which have not been cleared up, we will not vote for him."
The English Football Association chairman Greg Dyke stressed that he is not concerned in proving whether Sheikh Salman was involved in the accusations brought forth against him or not: "The question is: Does it matter whether or not he was involved, or is it the fact, can you have someone from Bahrain running world football, in charge of world football, given what happened there four years ago? I personally have my doubts.''
