Bahrain Mirror: The "This is Bahrain" campaign launched its new version entitled "This is the Arab Gulf".
It seems that there will be no actual change in the tactics that the "This is Bahrain" group will follow in its Gulf version. However, the targets seem similar.
"This is Bahrain" campaign has sought in the past few years to whitewash Bahrain's human rights record through tours sponsored by the government. The tours included European capitals and the United States. This public relations campaign aims at showing the religious tolerance and freedoms that Bahrain enjoys, which the international human rights organizations and UN commissions and rapporteurs deny.
The organizers of the new "This is the Arab Gulf" campaign say that this initiative aims at "highlighting the identity of the Arab Gulf". The campaign's first destination will be the Italian capital, Rome, on May 25-27, 2016.
Betsy Mathieson, the Bahrain Federation of Expatriate Associations (BFEA) Secretary-general said: "This is Bahrain campaign will anchor in Rome with a new identity in May, after a series of successful visits that included London, Paris, Berlin, Washington DC, New York. Our next visit will be to Rome, with the participation of our brothers from the Gulf States under a united slogan "This is the Arab Gulf"."
The Saudi Kawthar Al-Arbash, who already took part in similar events, will participate in this campaign. Al-Abrash said that "the timing of this initiative is suitable, particularly as the country is facing a fierce campaign aiming at changing its demography, defaming its reality and attempting to make a gap between the brothers in the same country and the region as a whole, whether through the yellow journalism or terrorist campaigns."
