Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Ministry of Interior announced that it summoned the political assistant of the Al-Wefaq Secretary-General, Khalil Al-Marzooq and secretariat member Abduljalil Khalil over Al-Wefaq statements that "questioned the procedures adopted by the Interior Ministry" as well as "calling for the interference of foreign organizations."
The Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Interior said that Khalil Al-Marzooq was summoned over "statements released on Al Wefaq's website and social media account that questioned the procedures adopted by the Interior Ministry and other state authorities and calls for interference by foreign organizations, which is considered a call for interference in the internal affairs of Bahrain."
He explained in a statement published by the ministry on (April 18, 2016) that "such statements promote unrest and sectarian tensions, threatens civil peace, spreads false news, incites hatred and harms Bahrain's national and foreign affairs."
The Assistant Undersecretary further stated that they were both "asked to stop issuing such statements, especially in view of the current regional situation. Bahrain is keen to guarantee freedom of expression in accordance with the Constitution and law and thus who doubts state institutions will be held legally accountable."
