Bahrain Mirror: A report recently published by the World Health Organization listed the Bahraini Kingdom's Hamad Town and Ma'ameer among the 20 most polluted cities in the world.

The report states that the air pollution is measured  by calculating the annual average concentration of particulate matter pollution in one microgram per cubic metre. The results revealed that Hamad Town, which was listed as the 11th most polluted city in  the world, had an average of 318, while Ma'ameer had an average of 257, making the 19th place in the list.

Nigeria's Onitsha was named the most polluted city in the world. According to WHO, an air quality monitor there registered 594 micrograms per cubic metre of microscopic PM10 particles, and 66 of the more deadly PM2.5s. Three other Nigerian cities also made it to the list. As for the rest, they were cities in Afghanistan, China, Iran, Pakistan and India.

On the Arab level, in addition to the Bahraini cities, 3 Saudi cities were listed as the most polluted as well, including Riyadh with an average of 368 micrograms per cubic metre.
