Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini First High Criminal Court, presided over by judge Hamad bin Salman Al Khalifa with the memberships of judges Diaa Al-Huraidi and Jamal Awad and Naji Abdullah as secretariat, sentenced 4 defendants to one year in prison over beating two policemen after a convict attempted to escape from Al-Salmaniya Medical Complex.
The court convicted the suspects of using violence against official employees at Al-Nuaim police station, while they were on duty.
The authorities claim that the first suspect, detained over murder attempt charges, was referred on June 6, 2015 to Al-Salmaniya Medical Complex to undergo a nose surgery. At about 6:30 of the following day, the suspect asked the policeman in charge of guarding him and another policeman to remove his handcuffs so he could use to toilet. After they removed his handcuffs, the suspect pushed the policeman and ran away. Both of the policemen chased him, until the security guards of the hospital caught him. The first policeman then handcuffed the suspect again.
The authorities also claim that two of the suspect's brothers came and ran after him, thus the security head at the hospital stopped the second suspect. The latter; however, pushed the security head. Meanwhile, the third and fourth suspects tried to help the first suspect escape. The second policeman and security head prevented them from helping the first suspect, and so the second suspect beat the security head on his back. The two policemen and security guards eventually managed to have control over the suspects.
