Bahrain Mirror: Local Al-Wasat Bahraini newspaper said that the authorities in Bahrain intensified their security measures in the Diraz area, where an open rally is being held since 9 days ago in protest of stripping the Shia majority's spiritual leader Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim of his nationality.
The daily paper said that all the entrances to Diraz, except for two roads for entering and exiting the village were completely blocked.
"The security authorities, due to the Interior Ministry's announcement of decision to revoke Sheikh Isa Ahmad Qassim's citizenship on June 20, 2016 and the citizens' assembly around his house in Diraz, have completely closed all entrance leading to the area with piles of sand and cement barriers, also adding more barbed wires surrounding the perimeter of the village in addition to checkpoints," Al-Wasat further stated.
