First Trial Hearing of Al-Tawiya Society to Start Today
2016-08-02 - 7:06 p
Bahrain Mirror: Lawyer Ibrahim Sarhan said that the third minor court will hold today (Tuesday, August 2, 2016) the trial of the largest Shiite society in Bahrain over charges of collecting funds without a license.
Sarhan added in tweets on his own Twitter account that the trial of the Islamic Enlightenment (Al-Tawiya) society will be held at 4 p.m., describing the charges as malicious that directly target "the Shiite existence".
Bahrain has launched a heavy crackdown on the opposition and Shia existence in June. The authorities toughened the sentence against Al-Wefaq Secretary-General Sheikh Ali Salman, revoked the citizenship of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, suspended two Shiite religious societies; the Islamic Enlightenment (Tawiya) and Al-Risala, and summoned a large number of prominent Shiite clerics.
