Bahrain Mirror: The Public Prosecution detained each of Sheikh Ali Al-Jufairi, Imam of Al-Zahraa mosque Sheikh Ali Hmaidan, director Yaser Nasser and a number of activists, including Sayed Hameed Adnan, Al-Wasat newspaper reported.
Meanwhile, the authorities released Sheikh Sadiq Mohammad Jaafar and Sheikh Sayed Ali Saeed after interrogating them on Wednesday (August 3, 2016) in Hamad Town police station at Roundabout 17. Sheikh Yasin Al-Jamri and reciters Jaafar Al-Qashaami, Mohammad Hussein Aborweis and Nizar Aborweis were also released.
Deputy Prosecutor in the Northern Governorate, Hassan Al-Mehaizei, said the Public Prosecution was informed by Budai Police Station that a number of individuals had illegally gathered in Diraz area, some of whom were identified.
Prosecution began its investigations immediately after receiving the incident's report. Yesterday (August 3, 2016), five suspects have been questioned by the Prosecution, four of whom were detained and the fifth released. They have been charged with unlawful rallying in breach of the provisions of the law. Investigations continue ahead of referring the case to the relevant court.
Diraz has been witnessing an open-strike around Sheikh Isa Qassim's house after the authorities' decision to revoke his citizenship.
The authorities intensified their repressive measures against the opposition and Shiites, in the severest campaign launched since the Saudi and Emirati troops entered to crash the protests demanding democracy in March 2011.
The campaign led to the dissolution of Al-Wefaq, the largest opposing society in the country, Tawiya and Risala religious societies. The authorities also toughened the sentence against Al-Wefaq Secretary-General Sheikh Ali Salman, summoned and arrested dozens of Shiite clerics, on top head of the (dissolved) Ulama Islamic Council, Sayyed Majeed Al-Mashaal.
