Trial of Shiite Cleric Sheikh Fadhel Al-Zaki Adjourned until August 31, while Remaining in Custody

Bahrain Mirror: A Bahraini court commenced on Wednesday (August 24, 2016) the trial of Shiite Sheikh Fadhel Al-Zaki over taking part in sit-in protest in Diraz.
Lawyer Zahra Abbas attended the session on behalf of lawyer Jassim Serhan and asked for a copy of the lawsuit papers and time for pleading. Abbas also asked for Al-Zaki's release, however, the court refused and adjourned the case until August 31 for pleading.
The authorities launched wide campaign against Shia clerics in the country after they revoked the citizenship of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, which prompted condemnation.
