Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Royal Court-affiliated al-Watan newspaper published the complete text of the First Instance Court decision to dissolve the National Islamic Society al-Wefaq, Bahrain's biggest political opposition society.

Among the reasons behind the dissolution, which were mentioned by the court, were "Challenging the legitimacy of the 2002 Constitution, supporting violence by posting images of terrorists carrying sharp objects displayed as peaceful oppressed demonstrators. It also teamed up with one of the convicts (al-Wefaq Secretary General, Sheikh Ali Salman) on charges of inciting hatred against the regime, calling for its overthrow and insulting the judiciary and executive powers."

Moreover, as an excuse to its decision, the court relied on the speech delivered by Sheikh Hussein al-Daihi, in which he rejected the sentence ruled against Sheikh Ali Salman. It also claimed that al-Wefaq "summoned foreign interference", and challenged the legitimacy of the current parliament.

The court concluded that al-Wefaq "diverted its political practice to the extent that it incited the use of violence and encouraged popular protests and demonstrations that led to sectarian conflict in the country. In addition, it [waged] criticism against the state authorities' performance."

For the aforementioned reasons, and other mentioned in the detailed ruling text, the First Instance court therefore ruled in favor of dissolving al-Wefaq Society, liquidating its assets and money, and transferring them to the state treasury.
