Appeals Court Commutes Fadhel Abbas’s 5-Year Jail Term to 3

Bahrain Mirror: The Court of Appeals commuted on Wednesday (October 26, 2016) the 5-year jail term sentence against Fadhel Abbas, former Secretary General of the Unitary National Democratic Assemblage (Al-Wahdawi party) to 3 years.
A court of first instance sentenced Abbas to 5 years in prison on (June 26, 2016) over a statement published by the society, in which it condemned war on Yemen.
Fadhel is accused of "spreading false news and rumors in war time and publishing a statement for the society in media outlets that would harm the military operations of the armed forces."
