Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's minor court handed down on Thursday (November 24, 2016) 3-month jail term to Imam of Al-Kheif mosque Sheikh Isa Al-Moamen over inciting hatred against the regime and set 500 BD as bail to stop the execution of the sentence.
The authorities accuse Al-Moamen of inciting hatred against the regime, based on a Friday sermon he delivered in Al-Kheif Mosque on the onset on August 2016.
The authorities arrested Sheikh Isa on August 6 and referred him imprisoned to trial. However, on September 28, the court released him on 500 BD bail.
The Bahraini authorities have escalated their campaign against Shiite clerics since June 2016, after the revocation of the Shiite majority spiritual leader, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim's citizenship.
The authorities have arrested dozens of Shiite clerics since June and imprisoned a number of them over assembling outside Sheikh Isa Qassim's house or inciting hatred against the regime based on their delivered religious sermons.
