Front Line Defenders Condemns Harassment against HR Defenders, Calls to Release Saeed Al-Samahiji

Bahrain Mirror- Exclusive: Front Line Defenders condemned in a statement it published on its website the recent judicial harassment against human rights defenders in Bahrain and all travel bans being imposed against defenders in Bahrain. The organization said it believes "that such acts are solely motivated by their peaceful and legitimate activities in the defence of human rights in Bahrain."
In the same context, Front Line Defenders expressed its deep concerned that "Saeed Al-Samahiji remains in detention and has been denied access to medical care". It urged the authorities in Bahrain to "cease all forms of judicial harassment against all human rights defenders in Bahrain and immediately and unconditionally remove the travel ban imposed against all human rights defenders facing travel restrictions in Bahrain, as Front Line Defenders believes that they are being restricted solely as a result of their legitimate and peaceful work in the defence of human rights."
The organization also called to Bahrain to "immediately and unconditionally release Saeed Al-Samahiji, drop all charges against him, and provide him with immediate and unconditional medical care," as well as "guarantee in all circumstances that all human rights defenders in Bahrain are able to carry out their legitimate human rights activities without fear of reprisals and free of all restrictions."
The authorities summoned between 15 and 23 November seven human rights defenders including Ibtisam Al-Saegh, Roula Al-Saffar, Hussein Radhi, Nader Abdulimam, Ibrahim Al-Damistani, Nidal Al-Salman, Zainab Khamis and others.
