FA Undersecretary: GoB is Ready to Discuss the UPR Report in Feb. & March 2017

Bahrain Mirror: Ambassador and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Abdulla Abdullatif, stressed that the Government of Bahrain is ready to discuss the UBRR report related the Universal Periodic Review of human rights, which will be discussed during the meetings of the International Council on Human Rights in February and March 2017.
The ambassador said that the report includes what he named "achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain in terms of promotion and protection of human rights". The report also focuses on the recommendations implemented by the Kingdom, in addition to the other reports related to the conventions signed by Bahrain like that against torture and others.
The undersecretary told Akhbar Al-Khaleej newspaper: This is the Kingdom's report and not that of the ministry of foreign affairs. Thus, several meetings were held with parties competent in human rights in Bahrain, whether NGOs or the judicial and legislative authorities.
He pointed out that "the Kingdom is ready to discuss this report in front of the International Council on Human Rights in the light of its commitment to the council's mechanisms related to submitting periodic reports.
