Bahrain Mirror: Sheikh Abduljalil Al-Miqdad's family said that the Housing Ministry is postponing handing in their housing unit in a project in Bilad al-Qadeem, for around 2 years now, without any legal justification. It is noteworthy that the family's housing request goes bac to April 1993, and is considered one of the oldest in their areas.

In an interview with al-Wasat newspaper, the family stated that since "February 2015, we were informed that our family housing request was given a housing unit in a project in Bilad al-Qadeem. We were told to go to the [Housing] Ministry building to follow up the procedures."

"During the follow up, they used us to bring many documents, including a copy of the passport for the person whose housing request was filed by his name; which is our father. We however, no longer have the passport, or a copy of it, since he was arrested in 2011 and sentenced to life imprisonment. His passport was confiscated," the family added.

Moreover, Sheikh Al-Miqdad's family clarified to the newspaper that Sheikh Abduljalil sent a letter to security authorities requesting their bring him his passport or a copy, yet the authorities said they did not know where it is. Therefore, he requested that they issue a new passport, so his family would be able to complete all requirements requested by the Housing Ministry.

Furthermore, the family noted that all the aforementioned, and many more happened, and today it has been almost 2 years, and nothing new happened since last July, since the Ministry insists on receiving a copy of the passport; and issue the family cannot provide now, despite waiting for the housing unit for almost 23 years.

"We are only demanding our guaranteed right, and the housing unit is already designated for us in Bilad al-Qadim, and we call on the Housing Ministry to consider our family's status, as it's waiting for its housing unit like all Bahraini families", the family added.
