Bahrain Mirror: An employee in the Minister of Health, Ahmad Hilal, was surprised to receive a dismissal letter on November 22, 2016 after he finished his one-month jail term over assembly.
Hilal talked about the details of his dismissal from Ministry of Health: "on January 8, 2016, I was suspended and charged with assembly. As a result, I was handed down one-month jail term. I ended my prison term on February 8, 2016 and returned to my work on the following day as a first-aid man in the ministry of health." He went on to say "upon my return to work, I contacted the officials who stressed that there is nothing worrying because I finished my prison term and I can resume my work. In fact, I resumed my work on the second day of my release and worked for about 9 months."
He added "on November 22, 2016, I was surprised to receive a call from the ministry of health telling me that I am dismissed. I directly contacted the ministry and received a letter signed by the minister stating that I am dismissed. At the same time, the letter said that I was dismissed pursuant to article 25, section (e) of the Law Decree No 48/2010 of Civil Service Law that stipulates that "Final judgment with a conviction for a felony or imprisonment for a crime relating to honor or dishonesty, and the dismissal of an Employee shall be at the discretion of the Relevant Authority subject to the Bureau's approval", however I was charged with assembly which is considered an offence."
