Parliamentary Services Committee Approves Increasing Unemployment Insurance, Dismissal Compensations Rate

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Parliamentary Services Committee approved a law proposal to amend some provisions of Decree Law No. (78) of 2006 pertaining to unemployment insurance. By virtue of this amendment, the unemployment insurance rate for academics would be increased from 150 Bahraini Dinars to 200 Bahraini Dinars. For nonacademic, the unemployment insurance would be increased from 120 Bahraini Dinars to 150 Dinars.
Moreover, the committee approved an increase in the job dismissal compensation, from 60% to 80% of the salary last paid to the dismissed employee.
It is scheduled for the Council of Representatives (Parliament) to discuss in its next Tuesday meeting (January 10, 2017) the proposal in question. On its part, the General Authority for Social Insurance has requested postponing the discussion in this topic until it finalized the actuarial it is conducting in this regard.
