Bahrain Mirror: Information reported that communications between Iraqi political figures and Emirati Prime Minister and Emir of Dubai took place (Saturday January 14, 2017), in a bid to make Bahrain halt the execution of 3 Bahraini political detainees.
The information confirmed that Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Sayed Ammar al-Hakim, phoned Mohammad bin Rashid, asking him to interfere. However, this mediation did not succeed in making Bahrain stop its execution of the Bahrainis; a step that led to the aggravation of the country's unrest.
Moreover, for his part, journalist Mohammad al-Sawad said on his twitter account that Ayad Allawi tried to mediate through contacting Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, yet the latter refused to interfere.
Bahrain executed yesterday (January 15, 2017) 3 Bahraini detainees after accusing them of killing an Emirati officer and two policemen (Pakistani and Yemeni), during clashed in Al-Daih, west of Manama, in March 2014.
The Emirati Crown Prince Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan had said during his participation in the funeral of the Emirati officer Tariq al-Shihi that he would revenge his death.
