Appeals Court: 5-Year Jail term against 3 Defendants Accused of Diraz Blast

Bahrain Mirror: The High Appeals Court presided over by judge Mohammad bin Ali Al Khalifa and Naji Abdullah as secretariat rejected the objection of two suspects sentenced to 5 years in prison and upheld 5-year jail term against the third appellant over Diraz blast.
The third high criminal court had convicted 37 suspects and sentenced them to periods ranging from 5 to 15 years in prison and acquitted others.
The court handed down 15-year jail term to 4 suspects, 10-year jail term to 6, 5-year jail term to 27 others and 6-month jail term to a suspect and fined him 500 BD over acquiring an ammunition without a license from the ministry of interior. Meanwhile, the court acquitted other suspects.
Deputy Attorney General, Ibrahim Al-Kuwari stated that the prosecution concluded its extended investigations in the case of blasting two explosives in Diraz that led to injuring 4 policemen, adding that the prosecution referred the case to the third criminal court.
Al-Kuwari said that the policemen sustained serious and medium injuries. Some of the injured members were sent abroad to receive treatment.
