Bahrain Mirror: The High Appeals Court rejected the appeal of a Bahraini who was convicted of burning tires and assembling in Sitra. The appellant was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
The authorities claim that the appellant along with 3 other suspects put tires on a main street in Sitra and burnt them on January 15, 2015. The policemen then interfered, dispersed the suspects and opened the road. The authorities allege that they reached the suspects through investigations. The first suspect admitted that he along with the others committed the crime.
The First-Instance court sentenced the appellant to 5 years in prison and sentenced the 3 others to 3 years in prison because they were under 18. The first suspect appealed the verdict, however, the court upheld it. The suspect then rejected the verdict and did not attend the session, thus, the court ignored his rejection.
