Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's opposition figures detained in building #7 in Jaw Central Prison, confirmed the deterioration of the prison's condition, due to more restrictions imposed on detainees by prison authorities. On top of those restrictions was reducing the visiting hours from 4 hours to 1 hour. They asserted their boycott of visits until the authorities undoes its latest decisions.
The detained opposition figures issued a statement saying, "We would like to refer to some violations that were not mentioned before, including isolating all prisoners from the outside world for 4 days (15 till 19 January), through preventing all visits and contact in Jaw."
The statement also noted that the prison authorities lock doors of cells and wards, saying they school screams and knocking on doors in the prison's building #6 all the time. This would be due to some prisoner's need to use the toilets; and this thus represents a clear picture of the torture and ill-treatment of prisoners in Jaw.
Moreover, the opposition figures also said in their statement that all hospital appointments were canceled, and daily newspapers were banned since January 15, while the authorities halted any purchases at the prison shop.
According to the opposition figures, the complete halt of visits by officers to the prison buildings, and not responding to complaints or letters, indicated the absence of any role and impact by any judiciary or regulatory authorities over the prison.
