Bahrain Mirror: A Bahraini court issued on Thursday (March 23, 2017) death penalties against 3 defendants in a politically-motivated case in which they were accused of establishing terrorist group, acquiring weapons and carrying out blasts, among them the blast that led to death of policeman in "Al-Qarya".
Activists said that the high criminal court issued death penalty sentences against each of "Maytham Omran Hussein Omran, Abdulmohsen Sabah Abdulmosen Mohammad and Rida Khalil Jaafar Ibrahim".
The court also handed down life term sentence to 4 and 15-year jail term to 8 others. It also bound two of them to pay 1541 BD for the damages caused to the security patrol and sentenced 2 others to 10 years in prison, including activist Khalil Al-Halwachi.
Human rights groups doubt the charges brought against the defendants as the court depends on confessions extracted under torture.
