Bahrain Mirror: The directorate of support for civil society organizations in the Ministry of Labour and Social Development issued a circular addressing civil organizations including, charity organizations to immediately remove second hand clothes containers in order to avoid the necessary legal measures that will be taken by the secretariat of the capital. It demanded removing them within a period of two weeks, bearing costs of removal.

The circular issued by the head of the directorate Najwa Abdullatif Janahi, on March 29, 2017, read:

We would like to inform you that we received a notice from the Capital secretariat regarding the containers of second hand clothes and supplies found in the streets, which violate the roadworks law 2/1996. Hence, we ask you to correct the state of these containers immediately by  removing them to avoid the legal measures to be taken by the secretariat.

The directorate had already issued a circular addressing civil society groups this month asking them to limit the locations of containers by placing them only at the groups' headquarters according to what was stated by the Ministry of Commerce, industry and tourism in order to "preserve the public view and safety of people". The directorate further stressed on the need to submit a request to the ministry in order to raise funds, in which the type of items collected and the purpose of collecting as well as the methods used to distribute the collected charity items.
