Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini High Appeals Court upheld a five-year prison sentence issued against an appellant and a one-year term against two others over charges of blocking road and setting fire to a garbage container in Tubli.
The three appellants were among a group of five defendants convicted in the case. The authorities claim that the defendants plotted together to gather and set tires ablaze in Tubli, and thus they headed to the Oman road in Tubli, blocked it with two dumpsters and a number of tires, covered them with gasoline, set them on fire and then fled the scene.
The Public Prosecution charged them on November 14, 2015 with arson, accusing them and other unidentified suspects of placing people's lives and properties at risk. The prosecution further accused them of forming an assembly of more than five people for the purpose of committing crimes and undermining public security.
