Bahraini Gov’t Fails to Pay Pensions during Some Periods

Bahrain Mirror: Head of the Parliamentary Investigative Committee on the pension funds manage by the Social Insurance Organization, Majeed Al-Asfour, said that the government failed to pay the pensions for some contributors during some periods.
Al-Bilad Newspaper quoted al-Asfour as saying that the officials in the committee noted that increase in salaries is leading to this actuarial deficit.
In a statement to the newspaper, he said that the authority looked into the future cost for employees entering retirement, a step not approved by the Committee.
Moreover, Al-Asfour said that the successive administrations of the pension funds did not demand the government of paying the contributions of the shareholders in some periods.
