Bahrain Mirror: The Director of NGO Support at the Bahraini Ministry of Labor and Social Development, Najwa Janahi, issued a circular prohibiting civil society organizations supervised by the Ministry, from accepting any offers from foreign embassies; i.e. missions, scholarships or training grants, or field visits, without the Ministry's approval.
The circular stressed the necessity for the organizations to consult with the ministry in written letters.
This decision follows a decision issued by the Cabinet in its Monday (April 24, 2017) meeting, stating that all ministries and government agencies under the civil service law, shall abide by the Cabinet decisions pertinent to organizing relations between governmental organizations and foreign embassies and missions.
Bahraini Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa asserted that no state employee shall accept any scholarship or training from foreign parties without a prior approval from the competent authorities in the government.
