Bahrain Mirror: Clashes broke out between demonstrators and Bahraini regime forces in several areas across Bahrain. Shops were closed in many villages, as youths set tires ablaze, blocking a number of streets. This comes as part of the protests that erupted across the country following the raid launched on Diraz this morning (May 23, 2017).

A young man was killed and more than 100 injured in an attack carried out by security forces on Diraz today, as security forces continue their siege on the house of the spiritual leader of the country's Shiite majority, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim.

This afternoon, angry demonstrations, in which both men and women took part, were held in most of the villages and towns of the island kingdom. Protestors denounced what they described as a barbaric attack on Diraz, holding up banners and chanting anti-government slogans.

Demonstrators also set tires on fire in protest, blocking main roads, including the roads leading to the US base in the Juffair area, the village of Aker and Jedhafs.

Despite the serious security conditions in the country, protests were held in the villages of Sitra, Buri, Daih, Aker, Ma'amir, Sanabis, Jedhafis, Karzakan, Shahrakan, Bilad al-Qadim, al-Markh, and Karana, denouncing the raid on the protestors who were holding an open sit-in in Diraz and the attack on Sheikh Isa Qassim's house.

Activists deemed the events taking place a violation against one of the largest Shia villages in Bahrain.
