2&3-Year Jail Term Handed down to 11 Defendants over Assembly Case

Bahrain Mirror: The Fourth High Criminal Court presided over by judge Ali Khalifa Al-Dhahrani and memberships of judges Ousama Al-Shathili and Wael Ibrahim and Ahmad Al-Suleiman as a secretariat acquitted a suspect and sentenced 11 others to prison terms ranging between 2 and 3 years and ordered the confiscation of seized items over case of burning tires, assembling and putting private transportation to danger.
The court said that the second, fourth, seventh, ninth and tenth suspects were under 18 when the incident took place, thus, it commuted their sentences and dealt with them pursuant to article 70/71 of the penal code.
The Public Prosecution accused the suspects of deliberately burning tires, along with other unknowns, on August 24, 2016, that would put people's lives and money to risk and taking part, along with other unknowns, in an assembly of more than 5 people aiming at disrupting public peace, noting that they used violence to achieve the aim they gathered for. The prosecution also accused the suspects of acquiring Molotov, putting private transportation to risk and deliberately harming, along with others, parts of a police patrol owned by the Ministry of Interior.
