Bahrain Mirror: A Qatari newspaper criticized the absence of the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdullatif Al-Zayani from the crisis witnessed in the Gulf since about a week, after 3 states surprisingly cut their ties with Doha.
Bawabat Al-Sharq newspaper wondered "Is the council's Secretary General belonging to one of the countries (Bahrain) imposing siege prevented him from making any diplomatic effort to overcome the crisis and not to exacerbate dispute?"
It is worth mentioning that Al-Zayani took no stance regarding cutting ties with Qatar.
The newspaper added "Does the smile drawn on the Al-Zayani's face on the eve of June 5 reflect his content regarding the decision taken by the 3 states against Qatar or was he absent and given open vacation?"
