Bahrain Mirror: The Societies of the national democratic movement in Bahrain called for consensus between the state and political parties on the political and livelihood issues, as well as sparing the country from foreign interventions.
"The societies of the national democratic movement, as they commemorate the anniversary of Bahrain's independence and express their appreciation for the great sacrifices made by our people through generations to achieve this independence and the establishment of the civil state, a state based on complete constitutional citizenship, stress once again on this occasion their call for overcoming what our country is suffering in this current situation from a decline in national political action, also overcoming the negative effects and repercussions of the events of 2011," highlighted the pro-democracy groups in a statement marking the August 14 commemoration.
The Nationalist Democratic Society, Wa'ad Society and the Progressive Tribune called for "returning to the spirit of the National Charter of Action for all citizens, which denounces sectarian divisions, achieving consensus between the state and the national political forces on political and livelihood issues, allowing public freedoms, especially freedom of political expression and freedom of the press, improving the conditions of political detainees and prisoners, and protecting our country from foreign interference and the reverberation of regional crises.
They further stated that since they "believe that national unity is the cornerstone of democratic reform and development and the achievement of the tasks facing our country politically and economically, our societies are aware of their responsibility in this field, and thus call upon all national forces and figures of different political and intellectual affiliations to work together to restore our unity and create a climate of trust between the various components of society."
