Bahrain Mirror: The International Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms (ICSRF) demanded the Bahraini authorities to probe into the violations committed in Dry Dock Prison (pre-trial detention), particularly "ward 1".
The ICSRF said in a statement on Tuesday (August 22, 2017) that the reports it receives from Dry Dock Prison show that the authorities don't follow rules of separating detainees from each other according to prison regulations and the minimum standard rules for the treatment of prisoners
"Political prisoners in ward 1 are being harassed by other criminal prisoners and are continuously insulted by officers. They face restrictions in contacting their families," it added.
At the end of its statement, the center demanded to allow the visit of the High Commissioner for human rights and the Special Rapporteur on torture. It also demanded that the public prosecution opens an investigation into how much Dry Dock Prison is committed to Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoner and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights to reveal to which extent do the Bahraini authorities respect international commitments and conventions on the protection of human rights, and improve the Bahraini Kingdom's human rights (protection) record.
