Bahrain Mirror: Deputy head of the European-Bahraini Organization for Human Rights (EBOHR), activist Fatima al-Halwachi, said that Bahraini security authorities prevented her from leaving the country without clarifying the reasons.
She explained in a tweet via her Twitter account on Monday (September 4, 2017) that the authorities at Bahrain International Airport banned her from leaving the country, without revealing the reasons for this decision. They; however, informed her that the ban was issued on August 30, 2017.
Also the day before, the authorities had banned former Wa'ad Society Secretary-General Radhi al-Mousawi from leaving the island kingdom.
Bahraini security authorities use "travel bans" as a retaliatory measure punishing and harassing Bahraini human rights activists and defenders. Such measures were condemned by the United States and the United Nations.
