Bahraini Finance Minister: Selective Tax Implemented within 10 days

Bahrain Mirror: Bahraini Finance Minister Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said that Bahrain will start implementing the selective tax law as of early 2018, i.e. 10 days from now.
The Minister noted in a press release that the tax will be imposed on tobacco and its derivatives, energy drinks by 100%, and soft drinks by 50%, as stated in the law.
The Ministry of Finance has launched a page dedicated to the selective tax on its official website www.mof.gov.bh. The page includes all data, information and frequently asked questions regarding the application of selective taxation in the island kingdom.
The statements of the Minister of Finance follow the issuance of Law No. (39) of 2017 on the ratification of the unified agreement for selective taxation of the Gulf Cooperation Council States and Law No. (40) of 2017 on selective taxation.
