Bahrain Mirror: Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that despite sending official invitations to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates to participate in the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) member states conference held in Tehran, the Gulf states did not send delegates to represent them in this meeting.

"While direct invitations have been addressed to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE, and at the same time invitations sent to these countries via the Permanent Iranian Mission to the United Nations in a concurrent manner by the secretariat of this conference, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE did not identify their representatives to attend this conference," he said.

"We expected these countries to participate in this conference away from politics, extremism and hostility, due to its focus on the issues of the Islamic world, including Al-Quds and cooperation and solidarity between Islamic countries, regardless of bilateral issues and Saudi Arabia and Bahrain's severing of diplomatic relations with Iran," Abdollahian further stated.

The Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs also expressed regret for Saudi Arabia's actions towards Islamic world countries, describing them as "non-constructive", expressing hope that "rationality prevails in the behavior of Saudi rulers."
